Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Rhinoplasty is one of the most common and sought-after cosmetic procedures. This procedure is done to reshape, reduce or augment a person's nose. Because the nose is the focal point of the face, it's understandable that many people want their nose to look as perfect as possible and to enhance the natural beauty of their face.
A nose job involves reducing the size of the nose by removing and sculpting the nasal tissue. Although the desired result is unique to each and every patient, the goal of a rhinoplasty is to improve the nose aesthetically so that it looks natural and creates harmony with other features on the face.
Most nose jobs are performed in a hospital or surgical suite on an outpatient basis. Depending on the type of procedure, Dr. Hueneke will recommend local or general anesthesia. The incision is either made inside the nose or across the columella (the portion of your nose between your nostrils) to gain access to the nose for reshaping.
Dr. Hueneke will then reduce or augment nasal structures using cartilage from other areas of your body, typically your septum, before closing the incision and applying a cast or splint. The length of surgery depends on several factors, but typically takes one to three hours.
